It is that time of year again to “Spring Forward” to Daylight Savings Time on Sunday, March 11th at 2am. Early risers rejoice and for those of you who hit the snooze button, well at least you get to do it with a bit of light in your room. This is the time when sunshine is bright, and days get a bit longer with Spring around the corner.

If you haven’t experienced a Broadway show, there is still time to enjoy a fantastic show of the Phantom of the Opera at the DPAC in Durham now til March 11th or if something more on the comedy side is to your liking, then catch Jerry Seinfeld at the DPAC on Thursday, March 15th at 7pm & 9pm only.
If you are a foodie you will want to get outdoors and try out the best Food Trucks in our town, come by the Durham Central Park to tantalize your taste buds at the Durham Central Park Food Truck Rodeo on Sunday, March 11th from 12-4pm. While you are there, also explore the great things the Park has to offer, like the Mount Merrill which is an interactive children’s play area on the eastern side of the park, or the 10,000 sq. ft. custom concrete Skate Park designed by Artisan Skateparks that features a floating quarter pipe, launch boxes, step-up bank, three stairwells with handrails, a street clam, and an eight-foot trog bowl, or just enjoy all the wonderful gardens, including a butterfly garden.
Come celebrate the “Luck of the Irish” on St. Paddy’s Day Saturday, March 17th by watching the annual Raleigh St. Patrick’s Day Parade at Raleigh City Plaza. There will be an array of vendors, live music played on the Shamrock ‘n Roll Stage and a grand parade through the downtown area, this festival truly offers something for guests of all ages. Maybe you want to celebrate the day with your simply love of Irish beer, food, and great music. Venture over to downtown Durham at Motorco for the annual St. Patrick’s Day Extravaganza on Sat. March 17th.
Also in mid-March, discover Discover the Dinosaurs Time Trek at the NC State Fairgrounds in Raleigh Sat. March 17-Sun. March 18th for the kid at heart or to experience with your family. Be transported through a special Time Lab where you can observe enormous, prehistoric dinosaurs. This experience is all about hands-on family fun! Families can compete in the Cretaceous Challenge Zone, visit the Time Trek Theater to meet baby dinosaurs, see a Dino skeleton come to life, test their Dino-knowledge in our trivia contests, and much, much more.
Later in the month, experience downtown Chapel Hill and Carrboro at the Triangle Food Tour starting at the Franklin Hotel in Chapel Hill. Enjoy a leisurely walk through the downtown streets of Chapel Hill & Carrboro for sample tastings and personal insights from a cross-section of this area’s finest and most unique establishments. Get to know the streetscapes and local character as you find how unique and different each are despite their close proximity. Visit 5-6 different local establishments and hear first-hand from the chefs and owners of these locally owned establishments.
